Pepa Yordanova is an established artist, educator, and spiritual storyteller through art. Born in 1965 in the town of Smyadovo, Bulgaria, she discovered her love for art at a very early age.
Art is my vocation. It is where I find my greatest joy – both in creating and in sharing it with children, whom I encourage to discover their own creative wonders.

At the age of eight, prompted by a teacher’s question about her future dreams, Pepa Yordanova made a life-defining decision – to become an artist and a drawing teacher. Today, she reflects with gratitude, viewing her creative path as a divine calling that brings her meaning and fulfilment.

True art is born where freedom overcomes fear.

After relocating to England with her children, Pepa faced the profound challenge of adapting to a new cultural and linguistic environment. In 2019, she made the courageous decision to settle in Oxford, leaving behind her role as director of an art school and the security of teaching in her native language.
At the core of Yordanova’s work lies a deep desire to reveal the subtle, often overlooked nuances that give art its depth and meaning. Her greatest passion is icon painting, with her works adorning numerous churches and monasteries across Bulgaria.
In recent years, she has also found strong inspiration in abstractionism – a direction clearly present in her exhibitions. While icons follow strict symbolism and canonical rules, her abstract works emerge spontaneously and freely. This liberation from predefined structures and conscious control creates a sense of lightness, detachment from everyday life, and freedom from ego.
